Ferrosi Convertible Pant

Outdoor Research took design and function into consideration when creating the Convertible Ferrosi Pant. Nylon and spandex merry together to create a breathable and flexible pant that takes wearers from scree fields to city streets, and added waterproofing protects in fast-changing mountain conditions. When the weather heats up, zip off the lower pants for shorts, and as the sun dips below the horizon, reattach for added warmth.

Multiple zippered pockets keep passports and phones protected and within reach when traveling through crowded city centers, and the higher waist works well with harnesses or backpack waist straps for added comfort on long days. Take the Ferrosi’s from crag to work and then stuff them in your pack for your next international adventure.

New design and sizing

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
10
Height:
5' 4"
Weight:
138

I've worn a 10 in these forever, but lost a bunch of weight and could pull them off without unzipping so I ordered a new pair in an 8. Way too small, so I reordered a 10, still too small couldn't button the button, wish they would go back to the double snaps but that's another issue. I returned both pairs, called to find out they've redid the sizes and the new one also sit lower than the old one. I'm looking for another brand, I have 4 pairs, all 10's but previous style and they all fit the same, too loose.

Best pants for everything

I basically live in these pants almost all year round. Great for casual lounging, hiking, dog walking, gardening, you name it. Pocket is perfect size for a phone. Light enough to wear in the summer shorts, but work for winter as well.

Awkward Design

Familiarity:

I am not a curvy person but the zipper part suffocates my legs. The connecting zipper sections are super tight and are uncomfortable to walk in or sit down. If I size up the waist will no longer fit. Be careful if you have even remotely built thighs

misguided features

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
10 and 12
Height:
5' 8"
Weight:
160

I tried two sizes, same challenges with both: leg zippers felt uncomfortable on thighs, possibly because legs are cut a little snugger than many hiking pants of this type and the cloth tape tie at the inside of the waist created an awkward bunching right were it's needed least. Other hiking pants offer adjustability through elastic at sides or buttoned tapes. Also worth noting, the rise is exceptionally short.

I would buy again.. and HAVE!!

I use these for backpacking, and I love them! Normally, I have issues with getting pants to fit BOTH my waist and my thighs. if the waist fit, too tight on thighs, if the thighs fit, I had inches of extra space in waist. But these actually fit both, and fit both well! love these, highly recommend them!

Favorite hiking pants

I love these pants! They are so comfortable! They are lightweight which I love when I'm hiking. I could always add a pair of light long underwear if I needed them for a colder time of year.

Versatile, but slightly tight thighs

I love the Ferrosi line. They are so lightweight and comfy. Easy to zip on and off the legs. But it's a little tight in the thigh, and I don't have very big thighs. I don't find it too uncomfortable but when you zip off the bottoms, the shorts fit light snug bermudas.

Ferrosi Convertible Pants

Better fit than the leggings....was hoping to get the leggings but they aren't for 5'3" and curvy.

Tougher and cooler than they look

Bought these for a solo backpack in the Needles district of Canyonlands. Flexed with me and breathed well. Only wish they came in Tall/Long. I'm 5'8" and could use another inch or two in the inseam.
