I bought them a month ago and wore them on a week long backcountry trip. No blisters, no cold feet and fell in love with them. Worn them almost everyday since then.

Best boots I’ve owned!

I love these boots so much. I’ve always worn Alpina’s and this is my third pair and my favorite. They are stiff and provide great control but super-comfy straight out of box. No zippers or velcro either!

I haven't skied in these yet, but have been walking around the house in them and may be able to help with sizing. I wear a size 10/43 in virtually every kind of footwear, but the Alpina chart says a US men's 10 is a 44 in their boots, and it is, especially if you have forefeet on the wide side. I could get into the size 43, but there was noticeable pressure on my little toes, despite the rest of the boot feeling pretty good, so maybe if you have a narrower size 10 foot, the 43 will work. The 44 fits surprisingly snug in the well-shaped, well padded heel pocket, which is good, and has ample toe room up front. Also, unlike the Fisher Transnordic, the Alpina boots break smoothly across the top of my feet without a sharp crease when I flex it. I'll update this review if anything turns up after skiing them.

Perfect Fit, Excellent Boot, Ships Fast

I am a size 10.5 and had a hard time deciding what size would be best, given I'm taking these to the North Pole and will have thick and possibly double socks. I went with size 44, and was a perfect fit. There is still a pinch of room at the front of the toe yet the boot is snug around the top and sides of the foot. 10.5 = 44 I can promise you that. I'll try to post a video / photo after visiting the arctic.

Best Cross Country Boot I've Ever Had!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
39

I absolutely love these boots. They're a total game changer for me on ungroomed trails and moderate backcountry touring. My old Fischer boots were like wearing a pair of slippers, and I felt like I had zero control with them. With these Alpina Alaska boots, my feet are comfortable, my ankles are supported, and I have great control on my skis. I'm so happy I bought these, and I'm really grateful to Backcountry's customer service for helping me with some questions before I bought them. For reference, I wear a women's 8-8.5, Euro size 39, and the 39 in this fits great. I also tried the 40, but it was absolutely HUGE. For me, these run true to size.

Size Discrepency

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
39/38
Height:
5' 4"
Weight:
135

I'm a woman's US 7.5-8.0 in boots and ordered these in size 39. Although the box and the printed size on the back of the boot itself said 39, the sewn-in tag on the inside of the boot said EU38. Not sure what's going on there but since they felt a tad small (toes grazing the front when walking) I assume the inside tag was correct. Although I think I would have preferred true 39's, I decided to keep them as I was running out of time for a Christmas Day ski. But beware when you receive them to check the size on the back of the boot against the interior tag if they're not feeling like the correct size. Aside from that, awesome boot. They kept my feet dry and WARM for over six hours including some walking through deep snow to get around fallen trees. For the first time ever, I didn't get blisters (silk sock liner + thin wool sock). They weren't as comfortable when walking as when on the skis, but again, possibly because of being the wrong size. I'm hoping the interior liner gets a little less cushy with time and will give my toes more room. All the metal ringlets and eyelets give a lot of options for different lacing techniques which also helped adjust them for more comfort than usual xc boots. They're expensive but worth it.
