Flexible frame suspension

The Beast18 features an innovative spring steel frame, which allows for both structure and packability. The flexible frame suspension provides comfort and torsion with movement, for an agile fit that moves with you and distributes loads evenly. When not in use, simply twist and fold the frame, and secure into the compression sack. The spring steel frame bounces back into its original shape when released.

Organization on the trail

The main compartment features an asymmetrical clamshell zipper, making it easy to access the larger items at the bottom of your pack. An oversized front compartment extends to the bottom of the pack, while a zippered pocket inside protects your smaller items. Safely store valuable items in the small interior pocket with keyloop.

Honest to god I don't leave home without this pack

This little pack is unbelievably versatile and indestructible--I only bought a new one because my old one got stolen. My wife's has been around the world and she uses it daily.
I have this bag in the back of my SUV packed like this:
Wallet/Keys/Phone (iPhone 16 pro)
2.3oz lotion
Baseball cap
Micro 4/3 Olympus camera
10k m/Amp power bank + cable
Prescription sunglasses in a ballistic case
Safety gloves
1 T-shirt, 1 underwear, 1 pair of socks
Packable down vest from REI
First-aid Kit
Matador Nano-towel
Matador nano-blanket
Leatherman multi-tool
1-quart zip-loc of trail mix
4 Powerbars
1.5-liter hydration bladder
On the outside, using carabiners:
1 pair of Vibram 5-fingers adventure socks
2 Matador packable dry bags
26oz spare water canteen
Camp hatchet
The design is arguably better than the original. There are more attachment points on the outside and the stretch pockets on the side are deeper, stretch larger, and hold items tighter than before. The pocket to hold the hydration bladder is better designed and the pockets are apportioned slightly differently to prioritize the outer organization pocket more. The back plate is a bit more rigid and comfortable--but also making the bag a bit thicker. The position of the zippers has changed so that they don't get tangled in each other as much. Honest to god I don't leave home without this bag--doesn't matter where I'm going.
