Late last year I bought the S&W . 44 magnum 6" Model 629 from PSA since there was a sale plus a manufacturer rebate. I absolutely love the accuracy of these long barreled wheel guns in single action. For my . 357 I was debating between S&W Model 686 and the Colt Python. The S&W Model 686 was on clearance sale at 60% of the cost of the Colt Python. So I followed the "Redditors" advice and bougth the S&W and used the 60% savings on ammo. Like my other S&W, it is an accurate gun with a nice feeling trigger.

When I got the pistol it looked used just like a lot of people say but then you got to remember this is a matte finish. I asked the guy at the gun store if he thought the gun was new and he told me yes and he explained to me and showed me that the firing pin you can still see the hash marks from where it was machine the hammer had no marks from smashing that firing pin when you rotate the gun it scrapes the receiver for the arm that holds the cylinder there was no rub marks on that they fire two rounds from the factory this gun was definitely not used I even looked inside the trigger. With that being said I love the gun but wasn't a huge fan of factory finish that it came with so I bought some cotton softballs and some jewelry compound used a medium to a fine and then a wet 3M polish and it looks great I couldn't be more happy So for anybody that gets this that thinks it's used it's not let me clear that out as for the finish it could be better but you can always make it better.

Initial thoughts after pick up is the gun looks a little abused. Ive seen some unboxing videos and it looks like a common issue with it. If I didn’t see those videos i would almost think it was used. Lots of scratches, chips and what looks like some glue on the barrel. Things I think I can polish the issues out of it so not going to let that dig my rating too much, and think its more the manufacturing than Palmetto’s fault so not going to blame them. Overall, I always wanted this revolver so happy I got the deal, but only giving it 4 stars because I think a new gun should arrive in better condition. I have not shot it yet but can’t wait to do so.

Initial thoughts after pick up is the gun looks a little abused. Ive seen some unboxing videos and it looks like a common issue with it. If I didn’t see those videos i would almost think it was used.
