Coffee for the back country epicurean
If you are back country, this coffee is what you need. It’s earthy, semi-sweet and turns your hot water into sip for sip glory. Even with 3 more full days of paddling ahead with kids want to quit early and go to Jackson for pizza. Once home, I grabbed a second pack for other travel -so I could skip the painful hotel & conference coffee and so I could skip the watery excuse for coffee at the in-laws over the summer. This coffee is bold and works it’s magic when you have hard work to accomplish. It brings the verve and is a veritable treat. And if you do find yourself in Jackson, get to Genevieve’s for breakfast.
The worst instant coffee I've ever had. It looks like bits of charcoal and quite frankly tastes like it too. While it's possible I got a bad batch, I don't know that I'd be willing to spend the money to try it again, since I ended up throwing most of it away.
Instant convenience and great taste!
The Verve instant coffee tastes great. It can be added to hot or cold water so it’s always an option when camping no matter how light you pack. I also keep it in my backpack so it’s an option hiking or biking. Did I mention it tastes great too?
Perfect Coffee for Backpacking
First off, what to give a huge shout out to Brynn. When I placed my order for the BV instant, to give a whirl while backpacking in the Sierra, I was accidentally sent a bag of BV whole bean. She and the team fixed it and shipped the instant out within hours. Customer for life right here! Now to the coffee - this is great for backpacking. I'm one of those crazy semi-ultralight packers (thanks to my back!), so I don't carry any extra coffee brewing gear with me. Wanted to give the BV instant a whirl after I fell in love with the whole bean option. This stuff is PERFECT! It's my go-to now when backpacking... no more of those via instant things. Thanks Verve, you're the best!
As Good as it Gets with Instant Coffee
At home I use a French Press, but I don't want to mess with all of that when backpacking. This instant coffee is as good as it gets taste wise. I got the one WITHOUT cream and sugar. I take mine black anyways, but powdered cream is just weird. Anyways, it comes out of the package like a thin wafer instead of power. That seemed strange at first, but it dissolved well in boiling water and tasted better than lots of fresh brew.
Don’t recommend
Im somone who prefers a medium roast with some milk and a little sugar. I was expecting this to be acidic and sweet and was planning on adding some milk powder to fit my taste. Unfortunately it did not taste good at all. Im aware the buena vista flavor/blend it a dark roast but even other dark roasts taste more flavorful. This was very strong and lacked flavor in my opinion. I really didnt taste any sweetness and even being dark roast is a stretch it just tasted like a medium roast.
Instant coffee that you'll enjoy drinking!
When backpacking, weight is of the essence. So I decided to leave my aero press and hand grinder at home and give Verve's instant coffee a try. When I tried it in my kitchen, I thought, okay, I taste some things ... juicy, apple ... but also that cardboard-y flavor that seems inherent with instant coffee. But when I made it at my campsite the first morning of our backpacking trip, it seemed like the "off" flavor had miraculously reduced significantly! I'm pretty sure it's a mental thing ... but also, as the coffee cools, I find the flavor improves, as is so often the case. I think this is a noble cup for a backpacking trip or other circumstance in which instant is really your only plausible option. Thanks, Verve!
Excellent flavor!
Great product. My gals and I loved this coffee, especially the streetlevel flavor. Lightweight and packs well for backpacking.
It's weird but fine
I got a pack of these like a year ago and decided to give a different flavor a try. Apparently it went from being powdered coffee to this weird taffy like thing. It's easy enough to break up, but kind of hard to dissolve. Even in boiling water, you have to constantly scoop solid bits from the bottom and stir them on your spoon. Flavor wise, I still think that verve needs to include more coffee per pack. Using one pack per cup, the coffee comes out pretty watery, but at least it isn't too acidic like other instant coffees.
