Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Wonderful Goose Down Jacket
This jacket is light, but very warm. It's not winter yet, but this jacket kept me warm when the temperature fell around the mid-30 degrees Fahrenheit a few days ago. I'm 5'9" and weigh around 170lbs so the fit is perfect: the length of the jacket; the length of the sleeves, the adjustable hood; and other adjustable features to make the jacket fit you to your liking. There are 3 pockets outside and 3 pockets inside. This would be great for skiing or tubing with friends in the mountains.
My New Favorite Puffy!
This may be the perfect winter coat. I am 6 ft, 190 lb and the large fits perfectly with room to breath. The iron oxide is a great color choice and looks amazing in person. Overall, the build is of exceptionally high quality, as I have come to expect with REI branded gear. With the fluffy 850 fill down, it is a joy to put on, like an old friend I have just met. Is this what I’m taking ultralight backpacking for rain protection? Probably not. I like having a dry ultralight puffy in my waterproof stuff sack while I’m wearing my light shell for rain protection and heat retention. But this fits the bill for pretty much any other less weight-conscious winter activity. This is the coat I’m grabbing when it’s cold and there is any chance of precipitation. During a particularly rainy evening, I took a walk outside to test the waterproofing. It was unseasonably warm (high 50s F), but the coat stayed plenty cool with the pit zips fully open. While my shorts were soaked after an hour or so, my shirt was bone dry. The hood adjustments may be my favorite part of this coat since I can actually get the adjustments right to keep the hood out of my face while walking. The visor truly works well to keep the rain out of your face, and the hood feels nicely insulated. Perhaps the only negative is it’s hard to hear anything when the hood is tightened properly. Anyway, it’s easy enough to loosen up the hood once the rain lets up a bit. The VISLON zipper has been super easy to use and feels nice and robust. There was no water leakage at the zipper during my wet testing. I like the cut of the coat, which gives a nice waterproof butt flap to keep the water away even while moving around. In addition to the hand warmer pockets, this has two breast pockets (one inside and one outside), and two interior non zippered pockets to keep your hat and gloves dry and warm when not needed. Once it got older outside, this coat has performed wonderfully, with the shell blocking any wind and rain or snow, and the 850 fill down giving some great insulation. It was the perfect coat to grab for playing in the snow with my kids when we got an early season snow. Overall, the Stormhenge is my new go-to winter coat for any cold weather activity.
Great Waterproof Cold Weather Jacket
I used this jacket in a car camping situation and spending time outside during some day hikes. This is a great jacket, but not made for backpacking unless you are backpacking in very cold weather (20 degrees Fahrenheit or below). It is heavy, bulky and does not compress well. However, it is an excellent car camping jacket! It is very warm and durable. I like the adjustability of the jacket. You can adjust the cuffs to keep the wind from blowing up your arms. The waist and hood can also be easily adjusted to help keep the cold out. It moves well and is not stiff, which helps with camp chores. The pit zips are easily accessed, opened and closed. The pit zips were helpful to dump some heat while doing camp chores. The various pockets is another reason this is a great car camping jacket. You can keep all your essentials on you and dry. The bill on the hood helps keep the rain off your face and out of your eyes. I used it in the rain for a little while (less thank an hour), and I did not have any problems. It did not wet out and the water beaded up nicely. would definitely recommend this jacket for cold, wet weather recreational use.
Solid, very warm and comfortable jacket
So far I love this jacket. It's lightweight, very warm, and fits very well. I'm 6' 180lb wearing a large. It's not a fitted/athletic cut, so don't expect a slim or contoured fit, but it's also not too bulky. It's easy to move with, and I don't feel a pull in the upper back/shoulders when I reach forward, as I get with some jackets and shirts. The zippers work well so far, and I appreciate having the pit vents for active use. I've used this chopping wood and hiking in some wet snow, and it kept me dry. Definitely gets warm if you're exerting much. On a casual walk, I'd guess this would keep me warm down to about 20F (I generally run warm). With more intense activity, I'd wear this into the teens easily. The hood brim is a nice touch, as it shades the eyes and blocks rain or snow. All the adjustable parts are also helpful to dial in the fit and air/warmth retention. It feels like there's less down fill in the hood and arms than in the main body of the jacket, but that might be to keep it less bulky and more comfortable. Still plenty warm for me. Really the only drawback for me is that the material is very noisy...think lots of "swishing" sounds when you walk and move around. I tend to prefer wool for this reason, but the waterproofing of this jacket definitely makes it a game changer for wet, cold days.
Great fit! Great Color!
Got this jacket out a few times and was excellent around the camp fire. Breathable enough for camping, looking forward to getting it out on the slopes. It's packed to the brim with down insukation, fit is great but still got room for a fleece and baselayer below if temps really drop. Got the blue color, color is awesome! Exposed center zipper is waterproof, minimal extra pockets on the outside. Highly recommend. Only snag I can find iso far is it doesn't have a hole for headphones from the interior pocket.
Great waterproof puffer
Everything you'd want in a puffy waterproof jacket. I have a couple puffy jackets but none are waterproof or with hoods. This one lets you retain freedom of movement while being super warm AND breathable. I put this on before getting into my car and even with the heater blasting I did not overheat. There are size vents but surprisingly I didn't need them. The hood can't be removed but that's one less zipper to break and less holes for wind to sneak in. Plenty of pockets all around and the best ones are actually inside the jacket! These are proper pockets, not mesh like other jackets. There is a bit of elastic to hold onto your gloves, goggles, or whatever you stuff inside securely. Cuffs are adjustable with velcro. Zippers are all YKK. I didn't think to try snow sports in this jacket but it is helmet compatible and the adjustable cord locks can be pulled tight to keep snow out. A fantastic jacket all around.
Very warm and comfortable coat
This is a nice every day fall/winter coat with all the bells and whistles of a more technical jacket. I like the zippered pockets, zippered chest pocket, and the 2 inner pockets. The inner pockets are deep and can hold your things pretty well. I also like the zippered pits - very helpful when it comes to regulating temperatures. I wish more jackets had this function. The jacket's waterproofing works well and keeps all the wetness out. The waist has a bungee cord and the wrists have hook and loop fastening. The hood can be cinched down for a more tight fit around your head. This all works well to keep the your body's heat in. Looks good and fits and feels good.
Not built to last.
I had the same issue with zipper as some of the other negative reviews. After 2 winters the zipper broke and REI said it was normal wear and tear. This does seem to be a growing trend with a lot of companies lately. Higher prices not correlating with higher quality and then the companies don't stand behind their products and tell you it's just normal wear and tear. Well then don't feed me lines about being so concerned with sustainability when you make garbage that falls apart after 2 years. What a joke. Spend a little money on a company that actually cares and stands by theirs products.
So far, so good!
It only took a few days to be delivered. It was packaged well. I'm 5'8" tall. I weigh 155 lbs. I just turned 69. I bought a large. It fits very well. I like the jacket so far. I live in South Jersey. It hasn't been very cold here yet. I've worn it a couple of times. It was comfortable and warm. The zipper is quite stiff to zip up. I'm hoping it loosens up some over time. I'm also hoping it lasts as long as my old jacket that lasted about 40 years. Of course, I'll be dead by then. :) [By the way, a four star rating by me is quite high. I very seldom give anything five.] Well, everyone take care. Peace and health to you all.
Warm but poor quality
I really loved this jacket when I first bought it. Waterproof and very warm, perfect for Vermont winters which are a combination of cold, snowy and wet. Minor complaints about the hood and cuffs but I can make adjustments. 3 years in though and the zipper breaks. This is considered normal wear and tear. Do I pay the $100 to repair the zipper or get a new jacket that doesn't have a fast fashion plastic zipper. Save yourself the aggravation and buy a higher quality jacket. It will cost a bit more but it will be a higher quality and probably have a worthwhile warranty (I'm looking at you Patagonia).
