Solid bag but not weather proof
Used it for 4 days backpack trip on Isle Royale May 2025 (they require bear resistant now). Much lighter and packable than a bear vault, and was a solid fit for 5 days of food, but rain got in through the drawstring closure both nights that it poured. Make sure you ziplock any loose items inside cuz they'll get wet if not. The tie straps also absorb a lot of water so when I put the bag inside my pack during the day, this water transfered to my other gear. Not a big deal, but just annoying. I would have stuck to my trusted roll top silnylon dray bag + rope and hung it had I could.
A new lite bear bag
Just beginning to use the bag, which is slowly losing its stiffness. Very lite bag that is !
They aren't kidding about the tie being difficult to use at first, but I'm breaking it in. I think this is a great product. It's lighter than a similarly sized ursack. I do kind of wish i had gone for the black bear version, though, as I think the ability to use a roll-top when I'm not in bear country would be pleasant, and make the bag more versatile for a wider range of trips. Nonetheless, I do plan on needing grizzly resistance occasionally, and this is a lot lighter than a bear can, and I think more convenient than the ursack.
The lightest option and it seems very durable. Id have to say. They could include a better instruction manual with it, like how bout some pictures. But either way im extremely excited that this is so light and so strong. Ill be using it for years to come
No Bear Attacks, but I loved it anyway!
Just got back from hiking the second half of the GA AT with my daughter and we each used the bag for all our food. It was perfect and even though bear attacks, it was so much lighter than the canisters we carried last year!
