Too early to know. But..

We’ve only set up the tent when first received. Which was delivered very quickly. However, during set up, the brackets that come with the tent was a pain… while slowly attaching each bolt, we thought- there must be an easier way. Looking back in the website we found out that there is in fact a quicker set up. For an extra price of course. Our thing is… ok, Thule recognized there to be a better system and instead of just giving that to us, we’re forced to pay the extra bucks. I get it- name of the game but dang… throw us a bone. Other than that- the tent seems like it’s going to be an awesome upgrade and we are excited to try it out. We’ve read lots of folks complain about the zipper positioning but we won’t know how we feel u til we try. Also, when putting on the cover, be careful. The threading has already come up a little as we fitted it on…

Zippers …. Argh!

I've been using the Foothill for about 6 months now. There have been several issues mostly with the cover and straps. Once set up I actually love the tent. I live in SoCal so I can often sleep with the top open and fall asleep under the stars. Sure it takes a bit more time to set up but once you figure you your system. I can get it set in less than 10 minutes and packed up in about 15. I agree with a lot of the reviews on here though ... the cover and straps and zipper fall apart very quickly. Ive used the tent about 2 dozen times and started having zipper issues by the third time. I started making sure I had bungie cords and ratchet straps with me at all times knowing it was just a matter of time before the zipper would completely fail. I've had to fix it several times but this last trip it completely failed and I had to strap it up to get home safely. I got home and went to the website to order replacement parts and unfortunately on the parts I need there is no description. And you can't call anyone for customer support with questions. My firs being is the zipper upgraded from the original. I have Gen 1 model. Does the zipper come with both sides or just the side attached to the cover. I know that sounds like a silly question but I am not surprised by much these days and I could see that being sold separately. If the zippers is the same as the original from V1 … I will pass and get rid of the tent because I’m certain I will run into the same problem in a few months.

Tent review

Hello I have been using my new tent for a couple weeks. The cover tgat goes over the tent that zips up, the zipper that’s plastic broke the first week. Everything else I love about the tent. It’s really fun to camp in. I will have on display at overlanding shows. Are y’all able to send me a new cover that goes over the tent please?

Great tent to go beside the Thule Cargo Box

My only complaint is there is no storage for the ladder on the roof top tent or travel cover; would be nice if a pocket or something could have been stitched into the travel cover or a place to strap it to the top before you put the cover on so the ladder stays with the tent at all times (might end up doing). Almost forgot it on my second trip...Would have given a 5 star if not for this.

Good tent, bad cover

I love this tent but agree with a previous reviewer that the cover is garbage! The straps rubbed multiple holes in the cover after only a few months of use, allowing water to get in when it rains. (We do store the tent I side all winter). Unfortunately, we purchased the tent secondhand so have no proof of purchase and can’t file warranty claim. The fabric or strap system needs to be fixed.

Great Compact RTT!

I mounted the Foothill RTT on the camper shell of my Tacoma and absolutely love it. I like that it only takes up half the roof which leaves room for other gear. The Foothill has been with me on some epic adventures and even withstood a 60mph unexpected windstorm on the mountain. One thing I'll note. Other purchasers mentioned that the cover is a pain to open given that it unzips toward the middle of the car. I pulled the cover off, turned it around, and now it unzips the correct way.

Backwards cover?? This is how to fix that!

I love this tent for it's compact size, giving me much needed extra roof space for my other adventure gear The BIGGEST gripe I have is how the cover unzips from the BACK side. A real challenge on a Sasquatched Bronco! I made a video on how to swap the cover on my YouTube channel, TLOverlander

Low Profile

Easy set up and small enough you can still have a roof box. Sleeping pad is comfortable and we got the fitted sheets as well and they are very silky.

Great tent design but bad cover

Great tent design, light weight, half the space on the roof so i can still use my basket. Tent is easy to use with a little bit of practice. Mattress is too stiff for me though, i would go with a dual layer instead to make it more comfortable. Cover is horrible! After only 4 months of light use (tent is less then a year old, i store it in my locker during the winter), i already have multiple holes in it from sharp contact points with the tent not being reinforced. Tent gets wet when not in use and have to repair too quickly. Would give s higher rating if cover was better made.
