Great gun for the price. Had my son sight in the scope, squirrel population is way down!!
This was my first pellet gun. Great gun for the price. I've seen this gun in several sporting goods shops where it's sold for $20 to $30 more than AirGunDepot. The construction is very solid and shoots like a charm right out of the box with very little ajdustments to the sighting. The only thing that concerned me was the break barrel -- it can stick when cocking it, at least that's what I'm encountering. Also, the safety is not in the most logical place. For me, I like the safety near the trigger guard. Other than that, it's a great gun to plink around with.
My only complaint is the trigger. It has a lot of creep and is very spongy. All-in-all, though, a good value for the money.
This is a useless rifle that can not be sighted in at even 20 yards. Trigger pull has to be around 4-5 lbs .the power is there and the looks but useless as a tool. I have a 30 dollar 10 pump daisy BB from Walmart that is better for the purposes of shooting and accuracy.
Pros
Looks good and powerful
Cons
Trigger pull is around 4 lbs, will not sight in on a beanbag at even 20 yards
Is good for small game, hollow point pellets seem too be most accurate 2nd choice would be piranha pellets
Pros
Very accurate, nice scope, well built
Cons
Single shot, front optic sight fell out (break barrel should have rugged type install to hold up)
It does look like this gun prefers some pellets over others accuracy wise. I'm still experimenting at 20-30 yards. I will be doing some long distance target shooting with this gun too. Crosman Premiers seem fine but H&N Baracuda Power 10.65g are awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing how satisfied I am with the gun over the long term. Clean barrel when you first get the gun for sure.
Pros
Overall quality and substantial feel. Accuracy is great with better scope. Good trigger. Cocking is easy but feels well made and is not too easy. Huge value for the money.!
Cons
Safety is ok, feels a little cheap. Butt of stock could be a little bigger.
I love this air rifle. I know PCP is the new cool thing, and I own mine as well, but if you are looking for an old school looking, accurate rifle that reminds you of all the things you love about Rueger then this is your gun. As others have stated the scope is not awesome but I switched mine out. It breaks in nicely after 100 shots or so, it quiets down and becomes easier to cock. It is very accurate and powerful. If you use airguns in your backyard as I do then you definitely want a heavier pellet. The first 15 I shot through the gun were 7 grains or less and all sounded like I was shooting a .22 firearm and the shots were all over the place. Once I stepped it up it quieted right down and shot small groups consistently. Just a great old school rifle for us nostalgic types who grew up with wooden stocks
Pros
Accurate, powerful, classic looking
Cons
It's a bit on the heavy side and the scope is "OK"
i love the rifleBUT i cannot find any scope rings that will span the groves. help!
Cons
scope groves
a very good gun for all ranges I hit a rat at 65yards away but I had to get a new scope because it broke in the first 2 months but a good gun I can kill squirrels like nothing

william from USADear Sirs, I have a Ruger Air Hawk Elite with 3-9x40 scope, I have been using for a few years and the scope mounts gave out. What is the recommended replace for these mounts? Thanks Bob M

william from USAWill this go through a fence
asked eliJust got this gun what is the best ammo to put through it for hunting?
asked AnthonyI have found that heavier the better. I have tried lighter pellets and could not shoot a tight group. I went to the basic crossman ultra mag 10.something grain pellets they have tightened the groups up to where its accurate and fun to shoot. The factory scope is best used as a paper weight. I took mine off and bought a dove tail to weaver adapter and pit a BSA red dot scope on it.
David ReynoldsHow can the small spring for the trigger be ordered and replaced?
asked BenTry Ruger or Umerex for the parts you might need
Neil from USAwhat weight pellets do you shoot? I'm shooting Daisy premium grade .177cal. seems I'm all over with them can't hit close to the same spot. any help You can give will be great thanks
asked Danh&n baracuda green 12.96 gr. good for hunting also
william from USAI don't know the exact weight, but I use Crosman wadcutters. I was able to greatly increase the accuracy of my Air Hawk by tightening the screw at the hinge of the break barrel (the barrel should not fall due to gravity when open - THIS NEEDS A GUNSMITHING SCREWDRIVER TO AVOID DAMAGING THE SCREW), and all 3 stock screws (one of each side by the barrel hinge, one behind the trigger guard), also I replaced the scope rings. Try looking up "Artillery hold" if you aren't already doing that. Makes a big difference. Mine easily shoots .25" - .5" groups at 20-30 yards on days where I'm up to it.
Landon from USAwhat fps is this
asked j0hn from USAJohn,. This particular gun has a velocity of 1000 fps. That could be up or down in fps depending on the pellets in use. Hopefully that answers your question. Sincerely, Airgun Depot Customer Care Team
Scott from USAIs this gun safe? Does it shoot when the barrel is open?
asked SamRuger has an automatic safety when you cock it, so its very safe. But as a rule of thumb, you should always safety the rifle manually before breaking the barrel. keep your finger away from the trigger whilst you do so until your loaded, aiming at your intended target, and safety is off.
Jake from USAHow loud is this rifle?
asked jeremyAbout 90 dba.
TomThe first shot after cleaning or new appears to go supersonic causing aloud 22 like crack. This is probably caused by oil in the barrel causing hydraulic dieseling. After oil is gone the rifle quiets down and makes a spring/air release noise which would be expected, acceptable even in residential areas. This is a powerful pellet rifle so you sacrifice a little noise for a lot of power. I hope this helps.
Ed from USAAny idea where the Ruger airguns are made?
asked JacksonRuger is made by Umarex and they are located in Arkansas.
Scott from USA
The only issue I had with this rifle is the scope was highly flawed, and impossible to use. Using the rifles built in sights its quite accurate and a wonderful small game gun
