Varget is an extruded propellant in the Hodgdon line of Extreme series of powders. Varget features small, extruded grains for uniform metering, is insensitive to hot and cold temperatures and produces higher energy for improved velocities over other powders in its burning-speed class.
The powder ignites quickly and burns clean, translating into superb accuracy, higher scores and more clean, one-shot kills.
Varget is the perfect powder for shooting the 223 Remington with heavy bullets in competitive matches. Outstanding performance and velocity can be obtained in such popular cartridges as the 22-250 Remington, 308 Winchester, 30-06, 375 H&H and many more.

I am a competitive shooter and I always count on Varget for my loads! Lot to lot consistency is great, It doesn't matter if I get a new lot of powder, I know I can run my favorite load and it will shoot great like it always does. Temp sensitivity is amazing, I shoot all year long and my velocity is always within 20 fps between winter and summer!

This is easily the best powder to use for BR case variants. Very temperature stabile as well as lot to lot consistency.

Varget is my absolute go to powder for .223/5.56 reloading. It measures consistently and I always pick some up when I find it available.

Easy to pour and measure, but about every other time I cycle my RCBS powder measure, it hangs up on a grain of powder. I don’t know if this would be the case with a non-extruded powder.

Best I've found for .223, .243, and 6.5mm for most all bullet weights.
