First camping trip a success

I never thought I would spend $200 on a cooler, but I got swept up in the Yeti madness and bought this as a "quarantine splurge". Did my first camping trip this weekend and was impressed. I was a bit dismayed by some of the instructions that came with the cooler, including needing to "sacrifice a bag of ice" to pre-chill the cooler, needing to pre-chill all of the contents, avoiding opening the cooler too much, etc. I had assumed $200 bought you a "magic" cooler that didn't require being too careful. But it was worth it in the end. I'm happy to report that after freezing eight 16-oz bottles of water and then leaving them in the cooler Friday night to "pre-chill", they were still solid ice the next morning. Saturday morning, I removed half of the bottles and added my 4-lb block of "Yeti Ice" (which at $30 was another splurge) and my pre-chilled supplies (wine, beer, and cold brew coffee) and about a half-bag of regular ice. At the campsite, we added some non-pre-chilled beers as space became available. Results: champagne was ice-cold 24 hours later, and despite some ice melt, even the non-pre-chilled beers had become very cold 36 hours later; I think I could rely on this cooler for a two-night weekend camping trip without worry. And the tip of using frozen water bottles to pre-chill is ingenious and doesn't waste any ice. One note: I bought the Roadie 24 over the 20 so that I could fit wine bottles upright, but if you put the block of Yeti ice at the bottom of the cooler, some wine bottles with be too tall to stand on top of it and still close the cooler. Just something to be aware of (in the spirit of oversharing).

Let me say, I do enjoy Yeti products and own almost everything they make. When I first saw the shape of this cooler, I was excited. Getting into it I was less so. The T latches on other yeti coolers are great, why change. This version has no ability to be locked closed or locked down, Why? Worst of all, is the lack of a drain plug, really? Who wants to pull everything out to dump water and then reload when a twist of a drain plug is so much easier. The good things are the height and the soft handle, but I'll keep to my Roadie 20 until they address these issues. Yeti missed the call on this cooler. It could have been a great one.

Yeti Roadie Canopy Green to match my other Yeti's

Perfect size for my needs. I had to upgrade to this model from the soft side I originally purchased because in this brutal TEXAS heat it would not hold enough for my all day needs cleaning swimming pools. So I went to the Yeti Roadie in Canopy Green to match all my other Yeti products. It works well with the Yeti ice packs, it totally freezes the ice into one solid mass around the Ice pack! It keeps my extra water ice cold, along with a couple of other drinks and my containers of grapes and blue berries. I am completely satisfied with it. The only draw back is I wish they would of put a drain plug on it, sort of awkward lifting the entire cooler up to pour the water out.

Great little cooler

Perfect cooler for two people, it’ll hold as much as you need on a long drive or a weekend camping trip and not take up as much space as the larger more expensive Yetis. It is important to prechill it before going on your trip.

Great cooler and awesome size... Yeti Roadie 24

I purchased this from REI because they were the only retailer that had a White one in stock and ready to ship. This redesign and size increase over the Roadie 20 is great, you can now fit full size 2 liter's and wine bottles in this cooler. On a recent 3 day trip, I used used plastic containers from the Dollar Store that fit in the bottom of the cooler filled with water and frozen (Ice Blocks), my beverages and food were cold, the blocks of ice were barely melted when I returned home. I highly recommend this cooler, it's a Yeti and works as advertised.

Roadie 24 Cooler

The new roadie is what I needed to round out my cooler needs. I was a little disappointed with REI and YETI in how I received the cooler. It looks like I got a floor model, and it was just thrown in the box. The cooler performs well but it looks like I've owned it for some time.

Depends on why you buy this Roadie

OK, so there are some cons: not drain plug, latches are different (I actually like the flip and they held up on the UTV while bouncing around in the back not strapped down) and not lockable for bears. btw, this is not leak proof. BUT the handle is great, love the height for using it as a seat and for wine (win-win), the tie downs are built into the connection of handles, and because of the height....well it has a smaller footprint in the UTV. Lastly, that fact that this one is so much lighter, is my go to for drinks, day trips/small outings and if I am just going to the beach with drinks and a small lunch. btw, just prechill your cooler the say before use and this and all YETIS will hold ice MUCH longer.

Perfect Lilac Cooler

This cooler is amazing! Perfect color, perfect size, the handle is comfortable. I’ve gotten so many compliments on the color, I’m obsessed. And to make things even better, my ice remained frozen for over three days before I dumped it. It probably would have lasted longer! Fits up to 30 cans easily. Always so happy with Yeti products!
